R.I.P. City Demo & Slot Review

A Wild Cat near the top of the field can cover far more positions than one near the bottom. That simple spatial difference drives R.I.P. City. The cartoon rivalry supplies the personality, while the review’s useful questions are where the cat expands, what it passes through and whether its reel stays activated for later spins.

R.I.P. City

3.9 out of 5

R.I.P. City is Hacksaw Gaming’s five-reel, five-row cartoon slot with 19 fixed paylines. Ro$$ the Cat and Maxx the Mouse are tied to two bonus modes, but both use the same underlying left-to-right line system and Wild Cat mechanism.

The official page lists a 12,500× maximum and a 3/5 volatility rating on the studio’s scale. That rating is not a promise of a moderate result in every mode: the purchase menu assigns separate descriptions to its options. The current official demo and a lower-RTP operator build also have different return figures.

R.I.P. City review overview

The cat’s starting position controls its reach

A Wild Cat expands downward to the bottom of the grid if its expanded form would participate in at least one winning combination. It does not expand upward to repair a line above its starting point. If it does not expand, it still counts as a single Wild in its own position.

Only one Wild Cat can appear on a reel at a time. A cat in the top row can cover the entire reel; a cat in the last row cannot create five Wild positions. This spatial rule explains much of the difference between two superficially similar cat-heavy results.

Nineteen paths determine which combinations count

Ordinary wins follow predefined lines on adjacent reels from the left. A Wild-filled corner is not automatically a cluster award, and a matching symbol on the right cannot bypass a missing match earlier in the line.

The paytable guide helps separate the paying path from the number of visually impressive Wild positions. R.I.P. City’s large field looks busy, but the line count stays fixed when a cat expands.

Who R.I.P. City suits

R.I.P. City is a good subject for readers who enjoy following a field as positions change function. The key distinction is between a cat that helps this result and a reel whose activation affects later Maxx spins. It is a weaker fit for someone who wants every paid round to use an identical, easily visible cost.

Best for

  • Readers interested in expansion direction and persistent reel states
  • People comparing enhanced paid spins with complete bonus purchases
  • Viewers reconstructing a Wild Cat result from its actual line positions

Not ideal for

  • Anyone assuming a guaranteed special symbol guarantees a win
  • Readers who prefer one fixed paid-spin mode without modifiers
  • Players who interpret the studio’s 3/5 label as a universal low-risk classification

How R.I.P. City rules and features work

A regular Wild becomes a modifier when swallowed

When an expanding Wild Cat passes through a regular WILD symbol, that symbol becomes a multiplier applied to the expanded cat. The checked rules list values of 2×, 3×, 4×, 5×, 6×, 7×, 8×, 9×, 10×, 15×, 20×, 25×, 50×, 100× and 200×.

This is not a rule that every ordinary Wild automatically displays a multiplier. The interaction requires the expanding cat to pass through it. The Wild-symbol category explains why the replacement symbol and its additional modifier should be read as separate functions.

Relevant cat multipliers add

If a winning combination includes several expanded cats carrying modifiers, the relevant values add before being applied. For an illustrative €0.80 eligible line award with 5× and 20× cats, the result is €0.80 × 25 = €20. Multiplying those two modifiers would incorrectly produce €80.

The example is deliberately about an already established line award. It does not claim that any two cats anywhere on the screen create that payout. Trace the actual path and check which expanded symbols participate.

Ro$$ starts with ten spins and more cats

Three FS Scatters in the base game start ten Ro$$ free spins. The feature increases the chance of Wild Cats and regular Wilds relative to the base game. Three FS symbols during the feature add four spins.

Four FS symbols during Ro$$ upgrade it to Maxx after the current spin. If fewer than ten spins remain, the allowance is set to ten; if ten or more remain, that allowance is unchanged. It is not an automatic addition of ten to the existing counter.

Maxx remembers activated reels

Four FS Scatters in the base game start ten Maxx free spins. When a Wild Cat lands on a reel, it activates that reel. Every remaining free spin then guarantees a Wild Cat somewhere on that activated reel.

The guarantee concerns the presence of a cat, not its exact row or a full Wild reel. Its expansion still follows the qualifying-win and downward-direction rules. Three FS symbols add four spins, giving already activated reels further opportunities within the same feature.

BonusHunt is a more expensive paid spin

At the inspected €2 base stake, BonusHunt FeatureSpins costs €6 per spin: 3× the base stake. The menu states that a bonus is five times more likely to activate in that mode. It does not reveal an absolute trigger frequency, so the review does not invent an expected number of spins to entry.

The increased trigger chance is not a fivefold return on the amount paid. Cost, trigger frequency and final payout distribution are different quantities. A short sequence without a bonus is not evidence that a bonus has become due.

Guaranteed-cat modes cost 20× and 50×

The same menu charges €40 for at least two Wild Cats and €100 for at least three at a €2 base stake. Those prices correspond to 20× and 50× for each enhanced paid spin. More cats still need useful positions and qualifying combinations to produce awards.

FeatureSpins remain active until disabled. Ten spins in the 50× mode at a €0.20 base stake would cost €100, not €2. The session journal guide explains how to record the actual debit when a displayed base stake is only the multiplier unit.

Complete bonus entries use another price scale

The checked menu lists Ro$$ at 110× and Maxx at 200×. At a €0.40 base stake, those entries cost €44 and €80. A hypothetical €60 result would exceed the first price by €16 but fall €20 short of the second, before any earlier spending.

The Bonus Buy guide gives the arithmetic behind that comparison. Maxx’s persistent reels justify treating it as a different structure, not assuming that the higher purchase price guarantees a better net outcome.

The round ends at the fixed ceiling

The stated maximum is 12,500× the base stake. When reached, the current round ends and remaining feature actions are discarded under the checked general rules. It is not a progressive jackpot accumulating across players.

A nearly completed set of activated reels does not override that cap or establish the chance of reaching it. The maximum-win analysis separates a documented upper limit from an ordinary session forecast.

Reading a cat’s position and the active paid mode

The current official demonstration’s help and purchase menu were inspected on 15 October 2026. No spin or feature purchase was initiated. The review also compares an operator help page using the 94.27% base configuration with the official demo’s 96.22% configuration.

The most useful inspection is spatial. Find the cat’s starting row, follow its downward reach and locate any regular Wild it passes through. Then identify the paying line and the applicable modifier. This is more informative than counting all the special symbols on the screen.

For Maxx footage, track activated reels across spins rather than treating each frame in isolation. A reel can be activated without its next cat appearing at the top. The guarantee of a cat and the possibility of a full-reel expansion are related but different facts.

The RTP guide explains the supplied-version check. This review’s read-only inspection does not establish a typical bonus size, handset performance or an independently measured rate of cat appearances.

How to play R.I.P. City responsibly

Check the active FeatureSpins mode before another spin. Its price repeats until the mode is disabled, and the guaranteed condition concerns symbols rather than profit. A Maxx reel that has not yet activated does not become more likely to activate because earlier spins failed to do so.

  1. Read the active mode and price.

An enhanced spin can debit twenty or fifty base stakes at once.

  2. Separate the guarantee from the outcome.

A cat is guaranteed in some modes; a paying line or positive net result is not.

  3. Record a complete feature total.

Compare the final credit with its entry price and any earlier paid rounds.

Symbols and Paytable

Wild Cats substitute in their own position and can expand downward. Regular WILD symbols also substitute, and become modifiers when an expanding cat passes through them. FS Scatters start or extend the named free-spin modes rather than forming an ordinary payline award.

Wild Cat

Expands only downward if the resulting form contributes to a win.

Wild

Becomes a multiplier when an expanding cat passes through it.

FS Scatter

Three start Ro$$; four start Maxx. Three during either feature add four spins.

The table compares the five menu options at their verified base-stake multiples. The checked paytable at a €2 stake lists five ordinary Wilds on an eligible line at €50, equivalent to 25× the base stake before applicable feature modifiers. Cash amounts in that help reflect the selected bet.

Paid option Cost in base stakes Unit
BonusHunt FeatureSpins 3× Per spin
Two Wild Cats FeatureSpins 20× Per spin
Three Wild Cats FeatureSpins 50× Per spin
Ro$$ 110× Complete feature
Maxx 200× Complete feature

An expanded cat is not necessarily a whole Wild reel. Its starting row remains relevant, and only the Wild positions actually covering a paying path contribute to that result. Do not apply a cat’s modifier to an unrelated line elsewhere on the field.

R.I.P. City RTP, volatility and maximum win

For the official 96.22% build, the checked figures are BonusHunt 96.44%, two cats 96.34%, three cats 96.31%, Ro$$ 96.20% and Maxx 96.41%. The operator’s 94.27% build lists 94.29%, 94.18%, 94.32%, 94.21% and 94.33% respectively. At 96.22% and 94.27%, €200 of cumulative ordinary stakes corresponds to theoretical losses of €7.56 and €11.46. Mode percentages cannot be transferred to a different configuration or used to predict a short sequence.

How to interpret the numbers

Key point 1

A Wild Cat expands only downward and only under its qualifying condition. A low starting position limits its reach.

Key point 2

Maxx remembers activated reels, not a fixed cat position. Future cats still have their own row and expansion outcome.

Key point 3

FeatureSpins have their own cost and RTP. The base percentage alone does not describe the active paid mode.

R.I.P. City on mobile

The inspected official interface provides separate base-bet and purchase values, with an active FeatureSpins notice. The help documents the information panel and disable control. On a phone, the essential checks are the full mode price, cat starting positions and activated-reel state. No physical-device performance test is claimed.

Mobile checks

  • Read the complete cost of the active mode

  • Locate the control that disables FeatureSpins

  • Follow each cat from its starting row downward

  • Check the Maxx reel state before interpreting a later spin

R.I.P. City compared with other games

Wanted Dead or a Wild expands an activated VS into a complete reel and adds relevant reel modifiers. R.I.P. City makes starting position more important because cats expand only downward. Le Bandit uses a cluster grid and Golden Squares, providing a different kind of persistent field state.

R.I.P. City compared with other games
Game Return / max win Volatility Bonus fit Watch out for
R.I.P. City 88.02%–96.22% / 12,500× Medium Ro$$ increases cat and Wild presence; Maxx remembers activated reels. Guaranteed-cat FeatureSpins are separate paid rounds rather than either complete bonus. Four FS symbols during Ro$$ set a low remaining allowance to ten; they do not always add ten. Activated FeatureSpins also continue until disabled.
Big Bamboo 94.13%–96.13% High The free-spin feature develops through four Scatter-collection stages, replacing low symbols with Mystery Bamboo and increasing the Golden Bamboo modifier. The entry gamble can lose the award completely, and a pre-converted entry should not be treated as if its completed stages will award the same upgrades again.
Big Bass Bonanza 90.63%–96.71% High Wilds collect visible fish values and contribute to retriggers that raise the multiplier for later money-collection batches. A fish value alone is not a collected payout. Later batch multipliers do not retroactively multiply the entire feature history.

The cat mechanism is easy to describe but rewards careful positional reading. The menu deserves equal attention because a small-looking base stake can sit beside a much larger repeating debit.

How this R.I.P. City review was checked

Publication status: Official product information, current demo help and menu, and an operator’s alternative configuration checked on 15 October 2026. Inspection was read-only, with no spins or purchases.

  • Mechanics — 4.0/5, weight 30%. Downward expansion and activated reels create a coherent relationship between position and persistence.

  • Pace and variety — 3.8/5, weight 25%. Two bonus structures and paid modifiers add variety to an otherwise familiar line game.

  • Distinctiveness — 3.9/5, weight 20%. The cat interaction gives familiar expanding-Wild ideas a recognizable spatial identity.

  • Rules and controls — 3.6/5, weight 15%. Detailed help is available, but repeating FeatureSpins costs and upgrade counters require attention.

  • Presentation — 4.1/5, weight 10%. The cartoon rivalry and exaggerated cat design communicate the expansion mechanic effectively.

  • How the total is calculated. 4.0 × 0.30 + 3.8 × 0.25 + 3.9 × 0.20 + 3.6 × 0.15 + 4.1 × 0.10 = 3.88, rounded to 3.9/5.

  • Evidence and limits. The score evaluates documented mechanics and official presentation. No personal win, measured payout rate or guaranteed-cat trial sequence is claimed.

FAQs

Do Wild Cats always cover the entire reel?

No. They expand downward from their starting position when the qualifying condition is met. A cat lower on the field covers fewer positions.

How do several Wild Cat multipliers combine?

Relevant modifiers add before being applied to the winning combination. They are not multiplied together.

What does Maxx remember between spins?

Activated reels. Once a cat activates a reel, another cat is guaranteed on that reel in each remaining spin, without guaranteeing its exact position.

What happens when Ro$$ upgrades to Maxx?

The upgrade occurs after the current spin. Fewer than ten remaining spins are set to ten; an allowance of ten or more stays unchanged.

Does a guaranteed-cat spin guarantee a payout?

No. It guarantees the stated number of cats. Their positions, expansion conditions and qualifying paylines still determine the award.

Do FeatureSpins switch off after one round?

No. The checked rules say they remain active until disabled, so their higher price applies to each subsequent spin in that mode.
